“Then the LORD All-Powerful said:
, You people are precious to me, and when I come to bring justice, I will protect you, just as parents protect an
obedient child. Then everyone will once again see the difference between those who obey me by doing right and those
who reject me by doing wrong.’ ” Malachi 3: 17-18
What are we to do when there seems to be so little justice in the world? What is expected of us as we wait for God to
act to make things right? We wait patiently. We strive to live godly lives. We remain faithful. Malachi’s words in this
passage resonate with the promises of the prophets and our expectations for the return of Jesus. God will return and
take charge. Things will be made right. It will happen on God’s timetable, not ours, but it will surely happen. When?
God only knows. It will happen according to his schedule. We can count on it and order our lives accordingly. Ifwe
believe that the Son of man is coming, then that belief will determine how we live in the present. When will He come?
We do not know but we should definitely not wait for Jesus’ return to start the process. Advent is a very good time to
act again to open our lives to God’s righteous rule.
Lord Jesus, be patient with me as I try to patiently wait for your return. Help me Lord to be faithful to your call and
empower me with the Holy Spirit to help me open my life to your righteous rule. Amen.
